The MME Archive is now live!Hello Everyone!I'm very happy to announce that THE MME ARCHIVE IS NOW AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC!You can check out the Archive here: https://www.themmearchive.com/ The MME Archive (or, the MikuMikuEffect Archive) is a website which helps MMDers discover new effects and producers, helps them find out which effects belong to which producer, find tutorials for effects, and find the best programs for using/making effects. I launch this Archive with effect producers ikeno and nil already implemented, and I aim to have a new producer added every couple of weeks. This has been my baby for around 4 months (over a year if you consider the MMD Effect Collections as part of it), so I'm very happy to release this publicly. I'm also very nervous as I have high expectations for this project, and I really, really want it to succeed. I have a few things I wanna say about the project, so please read on for some important information...The DomainSomething I wanted to talk about is the domain name. I've made this Archive using WIX, which is my favourite website builder. However, in order for this Archive to reach is full potential (i.e a professional URL, lots of storage, access to analytics, no ads etc.), and for other added benefits such as me using this website to show employers what I can do in regards to web design professionally, I have to pay a yearly subscription to the domain. Now, I am very happy to do this as this Archive is going to help MMD artists all around the world, and hopefully help remove some of the toxicity of the Western Community! However the reality of the situation is that I am putting my own money into this project, while never making that money back. For the time being, I am paying for a one-year subscription. Nowadays website builders make you pay a subscription to use a domain, you can't just buy one and you have it forever. I have bought one-years subscription to start off with, so that if the Archive does not prove useful, I won't be paying for a website that no one uses. If the Archive does prove useful, I can get discounts by paying for the domain on a 3-year basis. The cost of the domain for this first year has come to a total of £69.45 (lmao) / 81.11€/ 96.63$. As I said, I am happy to pay this subscription, however there are these added issues that I have to take into account:I am currently between work, having just finished a contract with my old consortium. Although I have found another job and am currently looking for a second, my income has dropped quite substantially. Don't worry, I'm not gonna have issues with paying rent/bills etc., however paying for a second domain in a single year has set me back a little bit.My main goal during the pandemic time (i.e, waiting for life to return to normal, being able to get a job outside of my home etc.) has been to work as much as I can to save money and get a Masters Degree and possible PhD. These cost A LOT, especially with the Masters I want, and it's going to take me several years to get enough money together. So in conclusion, I just want to make y'all aware of my donations page. I don't make any money from any of my projects, and since setting up this Archive is quite expensive, it would be quite nice to gain a little bit of that money back to put towards my Masters. You can donate to me here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/Chestnutscoop. Literally any amount of financial support will help, and it's all going towards my education. If you like my work/ find the MME Archive useful, please consider donating to me! <3ContributorsThe MME Archive, while mostly developed by me, is supported by a number of contributors who help make render art, fact check my information, check my spelling (I'm a UK boi writing in US English and it's not as easy as it seems haha) and ensure the website is as accessible as possible. These people who have helped so far are @Yamimori, @MMD-kyu, @moonuko, @BriarxXxRose, @misakirai, @G123u, @kurochiiP, @Haztract, and a few others who will be sending me material soon! Thank you so much everyone!I am constantly accepting new contributors onto the MME Archive, so if you'd like to help out with this project, please read the information here: ,Looking for Contributors to the MME Archive!~February 13, 2021Hello everyone! You may remember that I am workingEveryone who helps out gets featured on the contributor's page! The MMD Effect CollectionsAs you'll know if you read through the first page of the Archive, this Archive is meant to be an improved successor to the MMD Effect Collections. Until the Archive has all of the producers in the Collections added, the Collections will stay up on DeviantART. I probably won't ever delete them, however when the Archive has all the producers, I will be removing the effects from the descriptions of the deviations. I encourage you to use the Archive when it has more producers in, as it'll be much easier to use than the Collections. Thanks for supporting the Collections however, this is really where it all started! They were my most successful independent community-esque project, so I have very high hopes for the Archive!I think that's all I needed to say, thank you all so much for your support thus far! I am aiming to update the archive around every fortnight, and I will be providing live updates on my Twitter. You can follow me here to get those: https://twitter.com/chestnutscoop. I will continue to provide free resources, assets, requests and assistance for the foreseeable future!~chestnut <3~

MMD Crediting Rules: Broken Down [excerpt]This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD Crediting Tutorial, "A Comprehensive Guide to Crediting in MMD: A Tutorial for VTubers, Genshin Impact fans and MMDers Old and New". This excerpt focuses on the most common MMD rules found in readmes that involve crediting, I explain what they mean and how you can respect them. I highly encourage you to read the full guide, as it covers everything you need to know about crediting in MMD. It's a good source to refer back to if you're ever stuck on a particular credit, if I do say so myself :3OTHER EXCERPTS:,Best (and Worst) Ways to Credit in MMD [excerpt]August 16, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD,,How to Approach MMDers who Do Not Credit [excerpt]August 17, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD,,Crediting Culture in the Sects of MMDC [excerpt]August 16, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD,,How to Credit MMD Assets ~in Style~ [excerpt]October 16, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD-------------Crediting Rules: Broken DownIn this section, I will explain the most common rules associated with crediting that asset providers have in their terms of use. MMD rules are most commonly found in the readme that comes with the asset download, but they can also be found in other places. I talk more about this on page 11 of the Guide to Crediting. All asset creators have their own rules when it comes to crediting, so it is important to find out what is required of you as the user.Do not redistributeThis rule means do not put the asset up for download, or share it with anyone outside of sharing the original download link. An easy way of respecting this rule is by sharing the original download link with others. This supports the artist by giving them more views and more accurate download numbers. Asset providers ask you not to redistribute assets because it is a form of claiming it as your own, even if you state that it is not your own. Providers gain valuable information from people downloading it from their own site, such as how popular an asset was, how quickly it grew in popularity and if they should continue making similar assets for their community.MMD ‘archivists’ who distribute lost assets (i.e., assets that are no longer up for download by their creator) will try to argue that if they are not claiming the asset as their own, they are allowed to reupload them to their own site. However, these users are often isolated from the community because they do not respect the rules of the creator. They also argue that they are providing the community a service by making lost assets available once more. In some cases, it is unclear whether an asset was taken down by its provider, or whether the downloads were removed out of their control. Such events occurred with Saboten’s models. Saboten was a popular modeller who created the Saboten Aoki Lapis and Sweet Ann, and their website was taken down a few years ago. It is not clear whether this was Saboten leaving the community and taking their models with them, or if the site was removed and Saboten chose not to reupload them. Although this scenario is a difficult one as we may never know if the modeller cares about these lost models being redistributed, the fact is that you should not upload another artist’s assets without their explicit permission. Unfortunately, this does mean that some assets and very popular models are lost to the sands of time. It is a sad reality, but a reality that we cannot help- at least, not while being respectful of the provider’s wishes. On the rare occasion that an artist does allow redistribution of the original asset, they will say "redistribution is allowed".Do not claim as your ownWith this rule, you should make it clear when you use an asset that you did not make it. The easiest way to obey this rule is to credit the provider, which you should be doing already. Information about this process can be found in 'The Act of Crediting' section of the Guide to Crediting on page 8. Credit me and ______Some model editors and effect producers, especially modders, will require you to credit others that were involved in the creation process of an asset. This is because they have borrowed a substantial amount of data from another person to transform it into something new. For example, my 'KiraKira_ColoursV2.2' requires you to credit Chestnutscoop and Beamman - Chestnutscoop for the transformative coloured effects, and Beamman for the original effect. Others, such as Beamman and their 'KiraKira' effect, will acknowledge the data that they have transformed (i.e. Sovoro's WorldSnow), but they will not require you to credit that person. You must link back'Linking back' refers to providing a link to the asset download in the description of your work. The artist may also ask you not to link back to the direct download, but instead link to their artist page or one of their social media. This is so if someone likes an asset you have used and wants to download it for themselves, they can explore the artist’s other work instead of downloading the asset and leaving right away. While researching for this essay, I have been informed that this rule is often not a formal requirement to give proper and legal credits. HOWEVER, if a person writes in their readme that you should link back, you should respect their wishes and link back. If you follow the Great Tier of crediting on page 22 of the Guide to Crediting, this will help you fulfil this wish easily. If an asset provider does not mind you not linking back to their work, they will omit this rule.Credit in this waySome asset providers will request that you credit them in a specific way. An example of this is motion animator ureshiiiiii, who clarifies in their terms of use and in the description of their downloadable content: “Always credit "ureshiiiiii" (me) when using”.[1] Users with complicated names may clarify which name to use, especially if spelling mistakes are a common occurrence in their credits. In this case, ureshiiiiii has 6 ‘i’ letters, and is commonly spelt by creditors using the incorrect amount of ‘i’s. Their name also starts with a lower-case ‘u’, instead of the more traditional upper case ‘U’ for the start of a name. You should always check for this information in the terms of use.References:[1] ureshiiiiii, 15 June 2017 <https://sta.sh/01f1t2fz7lk9> [accessed 10 May 2022].The entire Comprehensive Guide took me around two months to write, and is constantly updated as time goes on. How to Approach MMDers who Do Not Credit [excerpt]This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD Crediting Tutorial, "A Comprehensive Guide to Crediting in MMD: A Tutorial for VTubers, Genshin Impact fans and MMDers Old and New". This excerpt focuses on the difficulties of approaching rulebreakers, my advice on hat to say, and how to deal with a person who is approaching you about rule-breaking. I highly encourage you to read the full guide, as it covers everything you need to know about crediting in MMD. It's a good source to refer back to if you're ever stuck on a particular credit, if I do say so myself :3OTHER EXCERPTS:,Best (and Worst) Ways to Credit in MMD [excerpt]August 16, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD,,Crediting Culture in the Sects of MMDC [excerpt]August 16, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD,,MMD Crediting Rules: Broken DownAugust 22, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD,,How to Credit MMD Assets ~in Style~ [excerpt]October 16, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD------------How to Approach MMDers who Do Not CreditWhen I speak to MMDers old and new, a factor that continues to pop up is the fear of doing something wrong and becoming the subject of a witch hunt. As I will talk about, everyone reacts to their rules being broken differently. Every creator is entitled to feel hurt, angry, saddened or any other emotion at finding out their content has been stolen; you cannot control how you feel. But what you can control is how you handle the situation. The first thing to consider when approaching someone about their lack of credits is “what is the goal here?”. Your goal should be to help the other person understand that they are doing something wrong, why it is wrong and how to fix it. Your goal should not be to take your anger out on the person in question, or force them out of the community. If that is what your goal is, you are emotionally reactive and you need to take a step back. I will always recommend taking action in a non-emotional way. This will give you time to feel your very valid emotions, calm down and address the issue pragmatically. You may choose to ignore the rule-breaking, you may choose to confront the rule-breaker, or you may choose to go straight in for the DCMA (not always possible with MMD, but the option may apply).Option 1: Choosing to confrontIf you are going to confront the rule-breaker and they are a new artist, please, please, do it with kindness. Unless they are a repeated offender, always assume that they do not know any better. They are most likely a teen who just wants to make art inspired by their favourite anime, and they have no idea about the cultural rules of MMD yet. They will respond much better to a kind teacher than a seething warrior. Here is an example of approach that has never failed me:,Rather than telling a person that they are wrong and they need to fix it, show them where they have gone wrong and how to fix it. Provide the answer for them with a source to help them learn how to do it in the future. Being proactive instead of descriptive can help prevent it in the future- which means less work for you later on.You are more than welcome to send them the Guide to Crediting, or reference my words if that helps your argument, or if you would prefer not to get into conflict directly.Option 2: Choosing to ignoreThis is a difficult option to commit to, and it may take time before you are ready to turn the other cheek, as it were. When you get to a level of notability as I have, you will see people not crediting you every day. It gets exhausting seeing work that contains my assets, with no mention of my name. It is also very demoralising. As someone who has dedicated 10 years of my life and the majority of my free time through school, university and work to the MMDC, and provided these assets for free while I have been out of work, I feel that the least people could do is give me the credit I deserve. This does not even cover the amount of people who break my redistribution rule, or my non-commercial use rule. However, the amount of time and energy I would use up contacting every single rule breaker about their wrongdoings would mean I would have no time to work on any new material. Instead of focusing on the negativity that is rule-breaking, I put 100% of my energy into supporting those who support me back. Simple acts such as retweeting art that has credited me, or saving other people’s content that features my work into a dedicated folder on my DeviantART page so people can explore it; it all helps me focus on the people who deserve my attention. What to do if someone approaches you about your incorrect creditsHoho, you are approaching me? About my lack of credits? Yes I will listen, thank you very much for making me aware of the issues. If someone approaches you in the comments of your work or in your DMs about your lack of credits, you may feel defensive about it at first, especially if you are not used to criticism. Hopefully, the approacher carefully explains what you are doing wrong and how to fix it, to which you can reply “thanks for the heads up, I wasn’t aware, I’ll correct my mistakes”, and make amends. If the approacher is aggressive, you may feel even more defensive, especially if you do not immediately understand why they are angry at you. The important thing to remember if this happens to you is to stay calm, and do not answer until you have relaxed and properly taken in what the person is saying. There is no need to stoop to their level, but they are upset for a reason. Do your best to respect what they are trying to do.There is a person on the other side of the screen*warning: the following 3 paragraphs contain mentions of suicide*No matter if you are the approacher or the approached, you have no right to threaten or harass a person who has broken the rules, or has spoken out about broken rules. Throughout my research for this guide, I have spoken to many MMDers who have experienced extreme toxicity when confronting or confronted about lack of credits. I have seen for myself or heard about people being doxxed, people being harassed by several accounts over the course of months or years, and people being told to kill themselves over crediting and rule-breaking. This is unacceptable.Cyberbullying is a very real thing with very real consequences, and you must remember that when speaking to others online. I know you are angry that you have not received the credit you deserve, and I know you want justice for that, but is the justice really worth it if you end up running someone out of the community, or making them commit suicide? On the other side of things, I know you are angry that you have been called out for doing something wrong, and I know that you are angry at yourself for making a mistake, but is retaliating to a request to credit properly worth the same risks? In the end, MMD is, as my partner says, a program designed to make cute anime girls dance. It does not have to be any deeper than that. MMD was created for fun, and stories like these do not make it fun. We can be better than this, while still getting the recognition we deserve. Treat everyone with a kindness, and try to assume the best in everyone. Lots of MMDers do not know the right way to credit. Educate them, and be the change you want to see in this community.Correcting previous mistakesIf you are reading this guide and you have discovered areas that you have never known or been told about regarding crediting, it's ok. I do not blame anyone for their actions if they were ignorant of the culture. After all, if you were never taught the correct way of doing things, how could you know that you should credit in a certain way?Do not feel bad for accidentally breaking the rules. However, what you need to do now is learn from your mistakes, correct them where possible, and move on. There is nothing more admirable than a person who can admit they were wrong and change their behaviour accordingly. Pretty pogchamp if you ask me.When in doubt, just askI believe that the majority of people in this community would be willing to help you out with credit clarification if you ask them. It is better to reach out for help than potentially make a mistake online. If you ever need help with anything related to MMD (it does not need to be strictly to do with crediting), you can always contact me directly in any of these places: https://www.rhiannonford.com/contact-and-platforms. Crediting Culture in the Sects of MMDC [excerpt]This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD Crediting Tutorial, "A Comprehensive Guide to Crediting in MMD: A Tutorial for VTubers, Genshin Impact fans and MMDers Old and New". This excerpt focuses on the different crediting rules that the sects of the MMDC use, and discusses the differences in crediting between modellers, model editors, texture artists, game rippers, motion animators, camera animators, pose artists, effect producers and transformative artists.I highly encourage you to read the full guide, as it covers everything you need to know about crediting in MMD. It's a good source to refer back to if you're ever stuck on a particular credit, if I do say so myself :3OTHER EXCERPTS:,Best (and worst) ways to credit in MMD [excerpt]August 16, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD,,How to Approach MMDers who Do Not Credit [excerpt]August 17, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD,,MMD Crediting Rules: Broken DownAugust 22, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD,,How to Credit MMD Assets ~in Style~ [excerpt]October 16, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD------------Crediting Culture in the Various Sects of the MMDC Like any art community, the MMDC has many sects of artists that all function differently and culturally. I define the MMDC with these creative sects as follows, and in no particular order:,We can generalise the types of crediting rules that all these sects have, and although not all of the members of these sects function in the same way when it comes to terms of use, many are very similar. Make sure you check each asset creator’s terms of use before writing your credits. Modellers Modellers are artists who make full models, model parts such as hair, heads and clothes, stages, props and accessories from scratch. Modellers use modelling programs such as Blender, PMXe and Metasequoia, as MMD does not support model creation. For models that are made entirely by one person (such as the original Tda, YYB and Koron models), one person is credited: the modeller. You should check the modeller’s terms of use to double check this, in case the modeller would like any additional acknowledgements included in the credits, such as Crypton Future Media who owns the image of Hatsune Miku. Stage and prop modellers may borrow textures from texture-sharing sites, and may ask that you credit the texture artist too. If a model comes with a set of effects made especially for that model, you may be required to credit the effect producer too. Model editors Model editors are artists who construct models, stages, props and accessories using other artist’s parts. These edited models are colloquially known as Frankensteined models. A Frankensteined models refers to a model that “was built using different body parts from the parts of multiple models”.[1] The term originates from Mary Shelley’s gothic novel Frankenstein, in which a scientist creates a new ‘human’ out of multiple people’s body parts. Each model part will have a different set of rules in regards to how they are used and credited. When artists refer to the difficulties of crediting with MMD, they are often referring to Frankensteined models, as there is potentially so much to credit. If you use a Frankensteined model, you may be required to credit everyone who contributed a part. Conversely, you may only need to credit the model editor (although this is rare, and you may need to research yourself whether this is correct for the parts that the model uses). For tips on how to keep track of the parts you use for your edited models, go to page 19 of the Guide to Crediting in MMD. Texture artists Texture artists consist of anyone who edits image files for MMD assets. MMD assets use textures, spas/sphs and toons, all of which are created within photo editing programs such as Photoshop or GIMP. These artists have similar rules to modelers, in that you should credit them and the artist who made the original texture, if they are distributing edits. Game rippers Game rippers take assets from games and convert them into a format for use in MMD. The majority of game rippers will rig the model themselves, and distribute the completed model. Usually, the ripper and rigger will be credited (if they are separate people), and the studio that made the game that the game rip came from. This community is exclusively non-Japanese, as Japan has strict laws prohibiting ripping assets from games.Motion animators Motions come in the form of animation data, and are usually created within MMD. Motion data can be created through motion capture, motion tracing, or from scratch. If the motion data has been created through motion capture, it is expected that you credit the person/company that recorded the movement. If the motion data is captured through motion tracing, it is customary to credit both the motion animator as well as the choreography that the motion uses. If the motion data is entirely original, usually only the animator would be credited. Camera animators Camera data is very similar to motion data, and may also include the built in lighting data for MMD. Similarly to motions, usually the camera artist would be credited, unless the camera has been traced from a choreographer. Pose artists Distributed poses tend to be a rarity these days, but they exist nonetheless. Similarly to motions, usually the posing artist would be credited, unless the pose has been traced from choreography. Effect producers Effect producers and modders tend to be much more relaxed than any other artistic sect of MMD when it comes to terms of use and credits. I group effect producers and modders together in this sect because it is generally accepted that any modified effect is its own effect. In a way, all MMD effects are modifications of Dance InterventionP's effects, therefore producers and modders are one in the same, to an extent. The majority of Japanese effect producers allow their effects to be used for anything. They allow use in any type of art, editing, distributing edits, and even redistribution of the original effects. The producer will often say that they are not responsible for any damages caused from the use of the effect, meaning that you should be considerate when using the effect. Many effect producers say that you do not need to credit them when you use their effects. However, it has become a community rule to still credit these effects and support the producer anyway. By no means are you legally obliged to credit these producers if they do not ask for it in their terms of use, but many, like Beamman will say "それ以外の用途の場合 は特に連絡、クレジットの記載無く利用可能です。(記載して頂ければうれしいです!)". (Trans: For other purposes [context: if nothing to do with religion, politics or projects related to Yunicreate Co. Ltd.] the effects can be used without any contact or credit. (I would be grateful if you could credit!)”. (Please note: I am not a professional Japanese to English translator, so this is what I believe it says to the best of my knowledge). While you do not need to credit these producers if they say that it's unnecessary, some social groups and communities will require the crediting of all assets for you to join their organisations. These organisations include the MikuMikuEffect DeviantART group. Others may not enforce this rule. With all this considered, it is important to check the readme of all the effects you use, as some effect producers do require crediting. Choosing not to credit effect producers may alienate you from certain communities within the MMDC. Render artists Render artists create their content almost exclusively from other people’s content. This art form is often called ‘plug-and-play’, and requires you to take content from all the above sects, put them together, and transform them into a rendered video or image. While the render artist does not own the assets used in the render, they own the render itself. They are limited to the amount of rules they can impose when none of the content besides the finished product belongs to them, but you may find that they clarify areas such as whether or not a render can be reuploaded onto other sites that it was not originally published to. If a render artist gives this permission, more often than not the reuploader will be required to credit the artist, and transfer over the asset credits. Best (and Worst) Ways to Credit in MMD [excerpt]This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD Crediting Tutorial, "A Comprehensive Guide to Crediting in MMD: A Tutorial for VTubers, Genshin Impact fans and MMDers Old and New". This excerpt focuses purely on the Crediting Tier List, based on a previous version I wrote in 2020. I highly encourage you to read the full guide, as it covers everything you need to know about crediting in MMD. It's a good source to refer back to if you're ever stuck on a particular credit, if I do say so myself :3OTHER EXCERPTS:,Crediting Culture in the Sects of MMDC [excerpt]August 16, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD,,How to Approach MMDers who Do Not Credit [excerpt]August 17, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD,,MMD Crediting Rules: Broken DownAugust 22, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD,,How to Credit MMD Assets ~in Style~ [excerpt]October 16, 2022This journal is an excerpt taken from my MMD------------Crediting in various tiers There are different ways that you can credit assets, even if an asset provider does not outline how you should credit them. In this section, I will explore various styles of crediting that I have seen over the years, and point out their strengths and weaknesses. I have organised these styles into tiers, ranging from terrible, meh, okay, good, great, god, and big nerd. When writing your credits, think about this framework: Does my style obey the crediting rules of the asset maker? Is my style clear and concise? Are all my credits consistent with each other? I am going to use my KiraKira_ColoursV2.2 as an example of how to credit. My rules taken from the readme for this effect pack are as follows: “-You may edit (with credits) -You may distribute edits, but please do not redistribute this unedited effect -Please credit me AND Beamman when you use -Please do not claim as your own -Please do not use this effect for commercial purposes”.[1] Terrible tier: “I don’t own anything except the image” "Effect: ???” “Effect: ask me” “Effects: no” “Effects: I can’t remember” This is not crediting. You are not acknowledging any of the assets you have used in your transformative work. It is important to make sure your artwork contains at least a limited reference to producers, or it may be misunderstood as plagiarism. Some render artists are under the impression that others will ‘steal’ their art style if they reveal what assets they use, especially effects, and so do not credit them at all. If this is something you do, I would like to politely inform you: your fear of being copied does not take precedence over rightfully crediting the assets that other people have gifted you, and it is highly disrespectful to put your own ego above the crediting of asset providers. Take a look at the image below. It reflects the rolling credits at the end of a movie, if it looked like how you credit using the terrible tier. As you can see, this style looks very unprofessional and disrespectful.,[2] Meh tier: "Effect: bowlroll.net/file/214827" "Effect: kirakira"This referencing is meh since you have provided a place for others to find the effect, and therefore find out who made it. However, it is not really showing respect to your asset provider as you have not provided their name, or the name of the effect. Although I have not specifically asked for a certain way of credit for my effect, if someone says ‘credit me’ in their terms of use, that usually means that you should at least mention them by name or the name of the asset. Some producers may even specify in their rules that you should not link straight back to the download page, but to link to their NicoNico or DeviantART page. In this example, the link that should be used is one of the artist’s social media where the effect was advertised, such as this: https://www.deviantart.com/chestnutscoop/art/PATCH-UPDATE-KiraKira-coloursV2-2-DOWNLOAD-825194246. When crediting effect mods, it is very important that you get across the distinction between the mod and the base effect. Simply crediting this effect as 'kirakira' is not adequate crediting. Without the addition of "_colours", you are crediting the original effect by Beamman without acknowledging the very important modification that makes KiraKira_colours different. You have not used 'kirakira', you have used 'KiraKira_colours'. This is very commonly seen when using ikClut modifications. Remember- all mods should be treated as their own effect.Okay tier: "Effect: [providing a link to imgur, sta.sh etc. which lists all the assets, or screenshots them from the register area]" Please note that this tier is very similar to a method I describe later, where you credit all your model parts in one place to link back to. These are not the same method. This method is okay, since it does name the effects that have been used when you access the image, but it may be viewed by some as disrespectful, especially if this method is used for one type of asset while all the others are credited in text. Often, it is effect credits that fall into this tier. When this method is used for effects, the artist often forgets to screenshot the shaders and materials that can only be accessed through the MMEffect tab. This means that you have left credits out of your final work and alienated a specific set of effect producers and modders who work with shaders and materials. The main problem with this method is that by not containing the names of the artists on your artwork or directly in the description, you are forcing people to go the extra click to see what you have used. Sometimes you have to click two, three or even four times to get to some sort of credit list, and even then, sometimes there’s not a list at the end of it. People who do this are often trying to get around crediting their assets by pretending they have done so. The likelihood is that, unless the viewer sees something they want to use, they are not going to click on the link to view the credits. Sometimes, the linked effects are used as credits for multiple artworks, when they clearly use different effects. If you use this method of crediting, make sure you actually have the correct credits for every artwork, not just some generic list. Good tier: "Effect: KiraKira_ColoursV2.2” “Effect: Chestnutscoop and BeammanP" This referencing is good because it either states the asset that you have used, or the names of the artists who made the assets. The use of the username has a different advantage, as many asset producers prefer to see their names rather than the names of their assets. If an artist says ‘Please credit me’, usually they want you to use their name. For me personally, I do not mind which bullet point you choose to use. A difficulty with only mentioning the name of the effect however is that many effects share very similar names. Japanese modifications of ikClut for example, are all usually called ‘ikClut改変’, and if you only credit the name of that effect, it is impossible to know who made it.Great tier: "Effect: KiraKira_ColoursV2.2 by Chestnutscoop and BeammanP [https://www.deviantart.com/chestnutscoop/art/PATCH-UPDATE-KiraKira-coloursV2-2-DOWNLOAD-825194246]" This referencing is great because you have covered all your bases. You have included the name of the producer, the name of the effect and provided a respectful link to the advertisement page. Nice job bro. God tier: Crediting ALL programs and characters used to create the transformative artwork, in addition to individual assets. By no means are you expected or obligated to do this, but going the extra mile helps other artists understand how you make your art, and by extension recommends them new programs to try out. Here are some examples of programs you may want to include in your description:MikuMikuDanceE_v932x64 © Yu Higuchi MMEffect v037x64 © BuryokuKainyuu-P MikuMikuMoving © Mogg PMXE_0254f © Inochi-PM and 極北P / Kyokuhoku- P Photoshop 21.1.1 © Adobe GIMP 2.10.18 © The GIMP Development Team Audacity 2.3.2 © Audacity Team Hatsune Miku © Piapro / Crypton Future Media Big nerd tier: If you are a big academic nerd like me and you love 40 page essays on crediting, complete with references, indexes and footnotes, you may want to consider styling your credits in the form of a bibliography. There is no style guide for referencing 3D assets specifically, however I would consider 3D assets as artwork in their own right. All referencing styles such as MHRA, Harvard, APA and MLA have guidance on referencing art. You can also add a link after this referencing, or choose to reference it as a website rather than a piece of art. MHRA artworkChestnutscoop and Beamman, KiraKira_coloursV2.2, 2020, MMD Effect, Bowlroll. Harvard artwork Chestnutscoop and Beamman, C and B. (2020). KiraKira_coloursV2.2. [MMD Effect] Bowlroll. Ok, first of all, what is it? It looks like people are using the models from Vocaloid videos and video games (I see one guy going Godzilla videos using the sprites from Godzilla unleashed). But where do you get the models from? And how do you make them move and make little videos? And does it cost money to do this?

MMD [or MikuMikuDance] is a very simple 3D-animation program that helps you to create your own 3D animation with many 3D characters [you can also make your own characters]. there're people in DA/idk the world who can RIP models from video games [as like Project Diva F/2nd/F2nd / idolmaster..]  or videos [is that even possible? i don't know hmm] using special programs for ripping things as like 3d models/houses/textures. actually every person can rip models, you just need to find the right program :U
how do you make them move? um, after ripping the models from the games [if you wanna open them on MMD] you're able to open them in PMD/X editor [you're able to edit MMD models with this program] and add them bones/ physics/ ect. you can open your MMD models and add them motions [you can download motions or make one], add effects and record your videos :3
the program is 100% FREE and the models are free too. actually everything here is 100% free and the program is very simple to use~
